Playas de Fornells is a quiet resort situated in the north of the island The resort consists of mostly private apartments and villas The colourful vegetation largely consisting of aromatic shrubs and cacti sets off the architecture The western end has a wide sandy beach whilst the eastern end is a contrast formed of rocky outcrops Fornells is a small fishing village on the western side of an enormous bay Almost landlocked the bay gives the appearance of a large lake and is ideal for windsurfing and sailing Fornells has also in recent times become the smart place to eat following patronage by King Juan Carlos The village can be reached by a 30minute rugged walk round the headland from the eastern end of Playas de Fornells or in 5 minutes by car Son Parc has the only golf course on the island and is 15 minutes drive away There is also a large safe sandy beach Other beaches close by include Binimella and Cala Mica
