Rose Cottage is part of a tiny, peaceful hamlet nestling in the pretty Commeauche Valley below the Forest of Réno-Valdieu. The lane giving access to the hamlet doesn't lead anywhere else, so there is no through traffic.
This part of the Perche region of southern Normandy was designated a Regional Nature Park in January 1998. Its gently undulating landscape is one of lush pastures, orchards and forests – perfect for walking and cycling. Motoring is also a pleasure on the quiet, scenic roads. The Perche is as yet largely undiscovered by tourists, and local people are friendly and helpful.
There are numerous supermarkets and village shops within a short drive, and all the local towns hold weekly markets. Also within easy reach are a number of good restaurants, as well as many cafés and the odd pizzeria or crêperie. The nearest town of any size is Mortagne-au-Perche, 17km to the north-west, with the smaller Longny-au-Perche and Rémalard closer to hand.
Southern Normandy
Rose Cottage is an easy drive from both Caen (93 miles) and Le Havre (106 miles). From the Shuttle terminal it is a drive of 3½ to 4½ hours.
You will receive detailed route descriptions from Caen, Le Havre and Calais with your booking confirmation.
