The area is typically Andalucian, restaurants offer excellent food and with fish and seafood a speciality. Both food and wine are inexpensive. Local markets are held different days and fresh fruits, food and vegetables are extremely cheap. Some of the most beautiful scenery in Spain is to be found here with lush sugar cane, fruit plantations, rugged snow-capped mountains, coves and beaches, pine forests and almond groves. For the sports enthusiast, there are ample opportunities for watersports, walking, climbing, golf and skiing in the Sierra Nevada mountains. The ancient city of Granada is less than one hour by car and Malaga is approximately 60 kms away, and served by the N340 .

Local Area Information

In the area there are numerous spanish tapas bars, restaurants, and shopping facilities. The ancient town of Motril offers a wide range of shopping and food to suit all tastes.

There are opportunities for watersports, and the Sierra Nevada mountains are within one and a half hours for skiing. Both the Sierra Nevada and the Alpujarra mountains offer wonderful walking and plant life to see and visit.
