Local Area Information

Essaouira is an historic town on the southern west coast of Morocco. It has an international reputation as a place for artists of every kind. Visited in the 1960's by musicians such as Jimmy Hendrix, Cat Stevens and Frank Zappa to name just a few it still attracts those who are looking for a place to 'chill out'. The Medina is a busy bustling place but has none of the hassel you get in Marrakech or Agadir. The resturants are many and reasonably priced. As you would expect, the fish resturants are suberb. The beach curves around the bay and is hard packed sand that is washed twice daily by the Atlantic Ocean. Kite and Wind Surfing provide the visitor with the best conditions in Africa. Horse and Camel rides are available also on the beach. Mistral Travel offers excursions to both the local area and further afield to the Atlas Mountains, Sahara Desert and Ancient Cities.
