Castlefreake Castle and woods are nearby.  Rosscarbery village is 3 km and boasts a leisure centre at the hotel as well as tennis and basketball courts, childrens play area, restaurants and shops. Whale & dolphin watching are based at Union Hall and Glandore ( a short drive ) which makes Sandycove an ideal holiday base for West Cork.
