Property Description

Our cottage has 3 bedrooms with main room having a queen size bed plus a view out over the Lake. The second room has a bunk with a double on the bottom and a single on top. The third room has a double bed and looks out into the forest. Maximum number of persons in the cottage is 5.

There is a large living room with TV/VCR, stereo (cd/tape) fireplace and a deck off of it that overlooks the lake. The whole cottage and kitchen have been newly appointed. There is another deck off the south side of the cottage with BBQ and lounging area.

Guests have use of a sauna that is attached to our house, down near the lake, plus use of canoes, and an electric motorized fishing boat. At times there may be kayaks available for the use of those who have some kayaking experience. If you do not, Island Escapades, our outdoor adventure company, can offer cottage guests a discount and shortened version of an introductory lesson. After this, guests will be able to independently use the kayaks on the lake. The dockside has lounge chairs and a ladder into the lake. The swimming in the lake is superb in the summer and the water is deep enough to dive in right off of the dock.

Local Area Information

Salt Spring Island is a heavan for Arts & Recreational options. There are some great beaches to explore and hikes including Beddis Beach very close to our cottage. There is also Southey Beach, Menhinnic Indian Reserve Beaches, Baiders Beach and the many beaches of Ruckle Park.
There are some great Mountain hikes on Salt Spring including Mt. Maxwell, Mt. Erskine, Reginald Hill, Hope Hill, and the Mill Farm Hike on Mt. Tuam. These hikes vary in difficulty and length but all have some pristine vistas and nice flora and fauna.

As far as Island Escapades is concerned there are an array of activities to participate in. We have guided kayak tours of 2-8 hours in length. There are kayak stroke and rescue clinics, which after completed will allow you to do an ocean kayak rental, instead of a tour. We also offer climbing programs both indoors and outdoors on the rock at Mt. Maxwell. There are regular scheduled sailing day tours that leave at 1:00pm for 3-4 hours and longer full day sails if you want to book these.

We have plenty of musical shows and theatre performances in the evenings plus a very cute little movie theatre. Salt Spring is known for it’s live music and entertainment. We also have the studio art tour where you can visit studios all over the island that specialize in various types of art from canvas painting to theatrical masks, from glass blown bowls to painted wildlife rocks… the choices in art are endless.

We also have a local native museum, sheep & Goat cheese factory, vineyards and some super books stores, and coffee shops. The Saturday market attracts people from all over the lower mainland for its crafts, foods, and music! These are just a few things to keep you busy on Salt Spring.
