Local Area InformationNerja is a lovley Spanishtown, traditionally dependent on fishing and agriculture. Today, tourism is an important part of the local economy, yet the town has retained its original charm and character. There are many resturants and bars ranging from traditional Spanish to Chinese, Indian, French and Italian. Nerja is well placed for visits to Granada, Cordoba and Seville and there are many traditional Spanish villages to explore. With its nine kilometers of beautiful coved beaches and all-year-round temperate climate, Nerja is widely regarded as one of the most desirable holiday destinations on the Costa del Sol.
There are 9 Kms of beaches including the internationally faus Burriana beach that has once again been awarded the blue flag of the European Union. The small coves below the impressive cliffs have been the inspiration of numerous artists whom have set up residence there. In the town there are typically small shops offering local produce of the area, including sweet wine, olive oil, honey and tropical fruits. On the beach there are fish restaurants where you can enjoy the local "pescaito frito" (fried fish). There are also a wide range of international restaurants in town which offer a variety of menus to suit all tastes.
