It sits at 500m (1640ft) in a fertile valley, with magnificent mountain views...... Through the middle of the finca runs the Bocaleones river , which rises just 4 miles upstream..... You can enjoy the sparkling clean river only 20 mts away from the house...... In the crystalline water you can see a variety of water plants, fish and if you are lucky you may even see an otter..... During the heat of the summer time the property remains cool and refreshing specially because of our river, water features and shaded areas...... The farm is divided by the river into two plots of land: the Organic Vegetable Garden and the Terraced Garden area...... a) We have a huge Organic Vegetable Garden (Huerta), watered by our own irrigation channel (acequias) that dates back to Moorish times..... One acre of cultivated land provides us with all the usual veggies with a variety of fruit trees growing amongst them...... The garden is maintained by your host and five local part-time gardeners....... b) From the house to the river bank you can also enjoy our well maintained Terraced Garden which is built in both sunny and shaded terrace levels....... It is surrounded by aromatic herbs, flowers and shrubs, olive, quince, orange and palm trees.... The garden and lawned area has benefited from great attention to detail, particulary around the various water features : it is a perfect place for solitary relaxation or sociable events....... As the garden can be illuminated at night the eating, relaxing and socialising possibilities can go on for 24 hours....... THE HOUSE - The house is a typical Andalusian style country house..... The house is more than 100 years old.... It has been restored and adapted with personal and particular sensitivity, while preserving its original features..... It provides comfortable accommodation without the loss of its rustic charm: we have preserved the beams, cobbles, wood, tiles, ceramics, terracota roof tiles and other details to retain a simple southern décor...... This ensures you will enjoy the house in what is close to its original state...... With its beam-and-cane ceiling, thick white and rocky walls and flagstone floor, the house gives you a feeling of having stepped back in time........ . ACCOMMODATION and PRICES - Your accommodation is based on B&B and self-catering, sharing double/twin bedrooms..... Electric radiators for the winter period...... Type of bedrooms: # One double bedroom with double size bed and en suite bathroom, which includes a shower, basin and lavatory. PRICE: 52€ per room/night ........ # Two double bedrooms sharing one bathroom, one with double bed and the other with two single beds ......(and extra bed or cot can be provided on request)...... These two rooms share a bathroom which has a fully sized bath with shower head, basin and lavatory..... They can be booked separately or together (in which case makes the exclusive use of the bathroom), ideally for a family of 4/5 people.... We provide you with toasts, olive oil, butter, marmalade, tomatoes, milk, coffee and various teas...... COMMUNAL AREAS: - Our lovely guest kitchen can always be used, if you wish, to cook your own food..... Everything in the kitchen is at your disposal: four ring gas hob, oven, large fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle and all the usual appliances....... The guest lounge has a dinning table, sofa and various locally crafted chairs........ You can also find a portable CD player and a good selection of CD, games and board games, books (including tourists guides and walking leaflets) are provided , along with local literature and city and walking maps, all are at your disposal........ OPTIONAL DINNERS:- We also offer dinners as well...... They are served (from Monday to Friday) with your host and guests who wish to join us.... We enjoy eating al fresco as much as we can so weather permitting, meals will be served at our shady outdoor table...... You can choose from a variety of different menus available at the farm....... We make every attempt to use seasonal home grown organic vegetables and local organic produce to provide our food...... All dinners include wine or sangría, bread and coffee/tea..... PRICE: 15/20€ per person ....... LEARN SPANISH (with your host).... (Take part in a truly passionate Spanish experience!) Would you like to improve your Spanish whilst on holiday? .......This is optional and this is what we propose to you: ¡Aquí sólo se habla español!...... How many times have you said to yourself that the only way to learn is by immersing yourself in one hundred percent Spanish speaking?...... So, here it is: You will improve your Spanish in the ´Style of Socrates´: Just speak!..... Although your host speaks English, he is a native Spanish and has been teaching Spanish for several years..... He will teach you by being with you at the farm or in the village: Zahara is such a small place it is easy to make new Spanish friends and opportunities for spontaneous chats are just around the corner....... Informal encounters in bars whilst having some tapas are brilliant..... The farm and the village become your classroom, for 24 hours..... Here you will face the reality of using the language... It´s the best way to learn!...... To benefit from this course, some knowledge of Spanish is required....... Alternatively , we are happy to respond to any suggestions that you might have......
