Property Description

The little house sits just below my house on the mountain. There is a small/steep concrete road that leads up to the access area then its a walk up to the house. The resort of La Mamola sits a couple of minutes down the mountain. I walk down the mountain to the village quite often, but let me warn you, its a steep climb up and even though I am more used to it, I still stop half way to admire the views (actually to catch my breath). A good meal and a couple of glasses of wine and you wont notice it. The views from the little house are quite spectacular. You look out to Mountains and the Mediterranean. Some days you will even spot the Dolphins going by. La Mamola is still a little village in the real Spanish style. Village populations is about 800 people, there are 2 supermarkets, 2 Fishmongers, 4 bars and restaurants (8 over season time), Chemist, Post office, Bank, 2-3 small gift shops, bakery and a doctors surgery and a lot of very nice people in the Village. Getting To La Mamola - Closest Airport is Almeria or Granada
By Road, it is on the main coastal motorway which runs from Barcelona to Portugal, although there is a gap just after a place called Adra that is not finished yet but the road is still good. Its the N340/E15. A hire car is essential if you wish to explore the area. There are no hire car companies or taxis locally, so it is best to book a car from the airport.

The cottage is simply but comfortably furnished and equipped for up to 4 people. 6 people could be accommodated if notice is given

Linen, excluding beach towels, is provided weekly. Cleaning is once a week and a change of linen will be left weekly. Use of a washing machine is available in a small room outside the house, which also has 2 sinks in it.

Local Area Information

The beach is just minutes down the mountain and there is a swimming pool five minutes away at the campsite in Castillo De Bano.
It is an hours drive from the Sierra Nevada ski resort. The Alpurjuras region is not far from La Mamola and is well worth a visit up to all the beautiful villages in the mountains. This is an agricultural area, with greenhouses and fields supplying vegetables and fruit for the supermarkets of Europe and sheep and goats grazing the hills. The best selling novels Driving over Lemons and A Parrot in the Pepper Tree by Chris Stewart are set only a few miles away.
In addition to the drives through the local countryside and the other beaches of the Costa Tropical, the location is ideal for anyone looking for peace and quiet. Golf courses are 20 minutes away in Motril.
