THE OLD TOWN OF GRASSE The old town of Grasse has long been the center of the perfume making industry and is famous for its fields of jasmine and lavender which are harvested and distilled to make the scents and essences The warm climat make a favourite place also to winter and there are excellent shops restaurants and general facilities Within a two minutes walking from the Property is a boulangerie which specialises in Provenal breads and pastries hot croissants and pains au chocolat You have also a butcher a newspaper shop a pizzeria and if you have not the time to cook there is a shop who prepare meals for you A paradise There are two supermarkets about 3 minutes driving but you can also go walking CANNES at 10 minutes A ten minutes drive from here lies on the Bay of Naples Fringed by a semicircle of hills it has exceptionnaly mild climate with a rich variety of trees and plants and a fine beach The town has several festivals throughout the year including the Film festival in May You can often find flower markets here and the rue flix Faure has some wonderful shops THE CHARMING HILLTOP VILLAGES Nearby are the charming hilltop villages of AURIBEAU CABRIS VENCE MOUGINS GOURDON VALBONNE which are pleasant to walk around SAINTVALLIER DE THIEY has a 12th century church and a natural bridge carved out of the rock over centuries and a remarkable underground cave SAINT CESAIRE is also worth a detour ACTIVITIES You have a lot of things to do Within 23kms are riding stables golf and tennis and some lovely walks in the hills And there are the beach of CANNES and MANDELIEU 10kms During the winter you can ski at GREOLIERE LES NEIGES 40kms ISOLA 2000 and AURON one and a half hour driving 2 bikes are also available at the Property at 35 euros per bike per week TRAVEL International AIRPORT NICE 20 minutes CANNES 10 minutes Car hire available An air conditionned car to and from NICE Airport at 150 euros or from CANNES at 85 euros can be arranged
