Local Area InformationOur nearest village is the historic village of Hawkshead where William Wordsworth once lived. The famous Grammar School is open to the public. Nearby is the hamlet of Near Sawrey where Beatrix Potter lived and wrote her internationally famous childrens' books - The Tale of Peter Rabbit etc. Visitors can look round Beatrix's home which is much the same as it was when she lived there nearly 100 years ago. One mile from High Dale Park is the beautiful lake known as Esthwaite Water where you can picnic, fish or just soak up the peaceful beauty by walking around the lake. Windermere is just 4 miles and Coniston Water - famous for Donald Campbell's world record breaking feats - is just 6 miles distant.
