This is a really romantic cottage full of character The comfortable lounge has an arched granite door and windows exposed oak beams and huge granite inglenook fireplace with a log burner The well equipped kitchen has vaulted ceilings and double doors that leads to a private patio area complete with garden furniture sun canopy and BBQ This leads out to the shared gardens and pool area On the 1st floor there is a large open plan bedroom with granite walls and exposed oak beams and ensuite shower room One of the sofas in the lounge is a sofa bed so can sleep 4 comfortably a supplement of 10 a week applies A cot is also available on request La Basse Rouerie is a traditional Breton farmhouse and Longere that dates back 600 years in parts It has two and a half acres of gardens with views over undulating farmland Although each cottage has a private patio area there is also a communal patio area with a brick BBQ the ideal place for parents to get to know one another while the kids play We have had many an enjoyable evening with quests having a BBQ and just a few drinks The above ground pool is made of teak to fit in with the surroundings in the orchard It is heated and maintained at around 30 32 degrees The pool is open from May September The gardens are the ideal place to either relax by the pool have a picnic under a tree or just sit and read a good book while sipping a glass a wine There is a badminton net swings boules pit swing ball football net and basketball net in the gardens along with numerous games In the covered veranda area there is table soccer and a darts board The gardens are large and safe enough for children to play Just down the lane there is an 18 km Patrimoine walk through lovely countryside

About ShoppingWe have several large supermarkets within easy driving distances.About Weather/Climate/TemperatureThe weather is lovely and warm from May until late September. Winters are generally a bit warmer than the UK.About BeachesWe are about 40 mins drive from the beaches which are beautiful. Called the Emerald coast because of the colour of the water they have wide expanses of sandy coastline.About FishingThere is day trout fishing about a 10 minute drive so bring your rod and have some fresh fish on the BBQ.About Scenery/Beauty SpotsA 20 min drive takes you to the forests of Fougeres with miles of cycle tracks, walking paths and horse riding. La Basse Rouerie is located in a small village called Melle which is situated on the Brittany Normandy borders Here you can spend days on the magnificent beaches known as the Emerald coast visit walled towns or just walk through the lovely countryside something for everyone Melle is about an hours drive from the port of St Malo this is also an excellent place to visit with a walled town and miles of sandy beaches Just along the coast there is Cancale the oyster capital of France with excellent seafood restaurants and Dinard with its palm tree lined coastline Also within an hours drive you have the large towns of Rennes Dinan and Domfront all worth a visit Mont Saint Michel the 2nd most visited place in France after the Eiffel Tower is only half an hour drive Half an hour will also take you to the walled town of Fougeres with its chateau St Hilaire a lively market town and Mortain known for its water falls Just under a two hour drive will take you to the D Day Beaches and the Bayeaux Tapestry Melle is also only 10 mins away from the American War Cemetery at St James Nearby are water and floral parks walking and cycle paths trout fishing horse riding canoeing and kayaking and numerous places of interest to visit something for everyone in fact
