About HistoryIn medieval times, Villamassargia was the richest village of South- West Sardinia. The memory of this glorious past is kept in the Historical Park of S’Ortu Mannu (there are huge number of olive threes planted in 1300) and two Romanic Churches in downtown: Santa Maria della Neve and Nostra Signora del Pilar. At the beginning of XX century Villamassargia was a miners’ town: many of its inhabitants worked in Orbai Mine, where today there is still an old village.
