We offer a fantastic stay in our villa in the traditional Andalucian town of Orgiva in Spain Orgiva boasts a scenic backdrop of the mountains during the months of November to March these will be covered with snow and with Sierra Nevada Ski resort being 1hr 45mins away and the beach at Salobrena which is 35 minutes away this ideal for the skiers out there with a balance of activity and relaxation Quiet yet an extremely friendly place what better way to relax in style in your own little haven nestled in the mountains By car Orgiva is situated 50 minutes from Granada and 1hr 45 mins from Malaga both easily reachable from the UK using the low cost reliable air lines combining this and the availability of cheap car hire from the airports makes this a very affordable holiday The house has 3 floors for rental and has the ability to sleep 8 people the entrance is situated on the 1st floor comprising of an entrance hall downstairs WC large loungedining room complete with TV DVD with surround sound system four double sofas and dining room table The kitchen comprises of fridge freezer electric cooker hob and oven microwave kettle toaster crockery and cutlery to accommodate 12 persons an extra table which will seat 4 Off the kitchen is the ground floor terrace area which is private with a medium sized table and 4 chairs and views of the mountains as the backdrop Also on the first floor is the study childrens room which has yet to be finished it will have its own television and DVD player ideal for children or adults to watch TV or listen to music and relax Stairs then lead up to the second floor which has four bedrooms 2 double bedrooms one with ensuite both with Romeo balconies and two single bedrooms with 2 single beds in each one with a Romeo balcony all bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and ceiling fans and a secure safe has been fitted to the inside of one of the wardrobes master family bathroom both bathrooms have a bath and shower Stairs then lead to the top floor which comprises of sink washing machine tumble dryer iron and ironing board with door opening to the roof terrace there is a large table and 4 chairs umbrella and retractable washing line Here you can sit and admire the lovely views of the Las Alpujarras and the twin spires of the 17th Century Church Towels and bedding will be made available but please supply your own towels for use on the beach For the families we are able to supply 3 baby gates for restricting the access to the stair wells at an additional cost of 15 Euros per week for the 3 gates If a cot is required then this can be arranged please let us know at the point of booking Upon your arrival at the house our property manager will greet you and show you around the villa he will ensure your stay is comfortable and answer any questions that you may have www rcvillas com
More InformationAbout BeachesThe fantastic beaches on the Costa Tropical are easily accessible, just 35 mins by car lies Almunecar and a great family day in the water park. Just slightly further resides the beautiful resort of Nerja, with some fantastic Resteraunts and Tapas bars. About GolfingThe nearest gold course is situated in Granada, which is an established 18 hole course with a backdrop of the Sierra Nevada snow capped mountains. The views from the top of the mountains are just breathtaking, well worth a visit for just that experience.About FishingThe beautiful Lecrin Valley is a great base for fishing. Expect to catch large wild carp, stillwater barbel to double figures, American black bass, trout and who knows what else.
Local Area InformationOrgiva was made the regional capital by Isabel 2nd in 1839 and it remains the biggest town of the Las Alpujarras as of today There are few remains of its Moorish past the Castle of the Counts of Sastago may look the part but it dates from the 17th Century The Renaissance church has a carving of Martinez Montanes and there is an Old Olive Mill on the outskirts of the town Orgiva springs to life on a Thursday with the local weekly market where locally grown fruit vegetables and crafts are brought to be sold Orgiva boasts several tavernas with a number of good reasonably priced restaurants supermarkets and a variety of other shops all are easliy reached within 2 minutes walk from the house You can hire bikes go horse riding or if you have a passion for walking there will be a varied selection of guides available at the property Lanjaron can be found within a short car ride from Orgiva This principle tourist centre has been attracting tourists to its many spas since Roman times There are eight springs in total each offering a different blend of natural minerals while shops along the main street offer complementary remedies for whatever ails you The ruins of a Moorish Castle can be found on the outskirts of Lanjaron standing alone on a jagged rock formation the Castle saw the Moors last stand against the imperial troops in March 1500 Lanjaron is now famous for its own bottled water all across Spain Pampaneira also can be found on a road out of Orgiva After a lovely winding drive up into the Sierra Nevada you will come across this picturesque white painted village with its cobbled streets and tavernas and craft shops In the Plaza de la Libertad theres a museum dedicated to the customs and costumes of Las Alpujarras and a locally run office for the Parque Natural de la Sierra Nevada There are a variety of sporting activities on offer from here such as horse riding skiing hang gliding nature walks and caving expeditions For the more contemplative of you situated above the town on the sides of a gorge you could visit the Tibetan Monastery of Clear Light which is said to be the reincarnated birthplace of the Spanish Tibetan Lama Osel Here there is a visitors centre and there are courses in Mahayana Buddhism and retreats Salobrena can be reached by travelling towards the coast from the house in Orgiva But once on the main A7E15 coast road you can travel right the way along the coast as far as to Malaga to the west and Almeria to the east bobbing in and out of the hills and cliffs along the lovely coastal road you will see avocado pears and sugar cane growing which helps keep the farming community busy Salobrenas dramatic setting slung down a steep lone peak overlooking the sea is the most stunning along the coast and helps to insulate it from the tourist industry There are nice beaches to be found here with parking and many beach tavernas shops and resteraunts Granada Everyone who comes to Andalucia stops to see the Alhambra in Granada but there is infinitely more to this magical city Not content with having the biggest collection of wonders from Moorish al Andalus Granada also possesses the greatest monument of the Christian Reconquista The city where Fernando and Isabel chose to be buried is still a chapel of romance Granadas setting is a land of excess where Spains tallest mountain Mulhacen in the Sierra Nevada stands only 40km from the sea it has become something of a tourist ritual to ski and swim on the same day Mulhacen and its sister peaks provide the backdrop for the Alhambra while there southern face overlooks the hidden villages of the Alpujarras Around the city itself it is wise only to be driven into by a brave and confident driver There is so much more to say about Granada and the Alhambra but it would be more useful for the would be traveller to research this for themselves
