In the Lake District National Park, Aynsome Manor Park is quietly set in the wooded grounds of the former Aynsome Manor, around the ancient fish-ponds of the monks of Cartmel Priory, 0.6m from the ancient village of Cartmel (Priory, 4 pubs, bistro & 1 Michelin * restaurant). The Park is collectively owned by the lodge owners, and is much loved and beautifully cared-for by them, as a retreat from busy lives. Our 4 person, 2 bathroom lodge, unusually, has a partially walled private garden, is south and west facing and has lovely views over Cartmel valley..to Greenbank. We are midway between Lake Windermere (4.5 miles) and the Morecombe Bay coast at Grange over Sands (3 miles), therefore ideally placed for exploring the South Lakes, yet only 20 mins from junction 36 on the M6.

Local Area Information

The Lake District National Park. Cartmel is a 15 min walk across the fields or 3 mins in the car.. A beautiful ancient village with a 12th Century Priory and 4 pubs restaurants including L'Enclumé with 3 Michelin stars, and a few shops. There is a Spa shop for essentials. The walks all round Cartmel and from Aynsome Manor park especially over Hempsfell are unmissable. Cartmel Racecourse on the very edge of the village meets on 7 days a year There are plenty of guides in the Lodge and all the maps you will need Grange overSands is only 3 miles away and is a lovely little Edwardian resort by Morecombe Bay. Holker Hall has large park and gardens excellent cafe and car museum 3 miles. Fell Foot Park Lake Windermere NT 4 miles.. substantial access to the lakeshore of Windermere, fine picnic areas and rowing boat hire + Impressive displays of daffodils and rhododendrons in season. Also within easy drive Sizergh Castle, Levens Hall, Dove Cottage, The Brewery Arts centre Kendal, Windermere steamboat museum & Barrow zoo.
