You may also be able to hire, at an extra charge, our beach hut ( 2 km away) on Southwold famous promenade. Imagine the joy of breakfasting by the sparkling sea on a sunny morning!

Our cottage makes an ideal base to explore the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Minsmere, a birdwatcher's paradise, Aldeburgh and Snape Maltings, Dunwich and Dunwich Heath are all within easy reach. Picturesque Walberswick is just over the river Blyth.

The beach, 2 km away from Chestnutt Cottage, is presently sandy, with Southwold promenade protecting the town from the incoming waves. Our beach hut is but one of the many on the promenade fronting the sea.About Children Activities **Southwold is an ideal choice for a quiet, traditional, family sea side holiday. Time seems to have stopped still here. Children swim and build sandcastles on the sandy beach, fly kites on the sands and the common, climb on the cannons on Gun Hill.
