Remaining largely untouched by the 21st century, shepherds tend their flocks and many locals still travel by donkey and cart.

There is a basic shop and bar in the village of PetrovDol for evening meals out a supermarket cash point or day trip to the ancient hill top fort of Ovech the town of Provadija is less than a 10 minute car journey away Its cool and relaxing leafy town square is lined with cafs bars interesting shops and places to eat 45 minutes away from PetrovDol or 1hr from Provadija by train is the beautiful Black Sea coastal city of Varna Varna with its long sandy bathing beach seafront restaurants and stunning cathedral Varna is well worth a visit Lose yourself among its intriguing leafy streets with shops restaurants bars and cultural attractions such as the Archaeological Museum Navy Museum Aquarium Astronomical Observatory and Dolphinarium The Sea Gardens which run parallel to Varnas long sandy beach offer fun for all the family including an amusement park for the children tennis courts cafes restaurants and night clubs For the hard core dedicated shopper Varna has several shopping centers or Malls Varna Mall has it all under one roof including a multi screen cinema and bowling alley
