18th Century Masseria close to the sea Italy
Farmhouse in Puglia, Italy
Property Description
“Masseria, a typical 18th Century building, completely white, with two floors (the family originally lived at the first floor, which is the object of the rent, while the farmers lived at the ground floor). The house is surrounded by olive trees and is close to the wonderful Apulian sea. The solution fits well for families or up to 6 persons’ groups which want to stay in a very quiet place and love nature (sea and country together), but that want to visit Ostuni, the “White City, as well (only 5 km away).
Local Area InformationIf you have already toured the northern part of Italy and are looking for something equally fascinating, completely different and much less crowded, Apulia is a wonderful area to consider. It offers at least one excellent archeological museum, a host of cathedrals dating back to the 10th century, several deserted - and thus highly atmospheric - Greek and Roman ruins, a gleaming necklace of lively fishing villages, one of Europe's largest forests, a chain of medieval hilltowns, and some of the very cleanest beaches and water in the Mediterranean. It also has its own subspecies of architecture, called barocco leccese. Characterized by extremely ornate carvings that cover the entire surface of churches and palazzi, its apex is reached in the delightful little city of Lecce.
There is one other attraction that you will see only in Apulia, and that is i trulli. Whitewashed cones made of stones held together without mortar, they are visible in almost every wheat field and olive grove, where they serve as miniature barns. But they are at their most picturesque when clustered together in the hundreds, to form a town. This is Alberobello, and it's a wonderful site you will never forget.
Ostuni is called the "white city" because of the colour of the houses in the ancient part of the city (which is similar to an Arabic "Casbah). Here the atmosphere is fantastic, very romantic and its streets are like a labyrinth of beauty corners to discover. Here there are a lot of restaurants, bar and other amenities, but in complete harmony with the quiet City.
The coast of Ostuni is around 7 km away from the city and is composed by more than 15 km of beautiful beaches. Masseria Bianca is only 2 km away from the nearest beach (Torre Pozzelle).
