Property Description

High on the hill above Lee Bay in North Devon is Warcombe Farmhouse, a beautiful Devon long house, comfortably sleeping up to 9 in four bedrooms.

Entered via a lovely porch, where you can store surfboards, boots and beach gear, you are immediately transported in to a world of classic and elegant country living. The large kitchen with flag stone floors and wood beams is well equipped and at the heart of the farmhouse. Fitted with fridge, freezer, microwave, dishwasher, electric oven and hob, and washing machine, there is no shortage of white goods. There is also ample pots and pans, cutlery and crockery. Cleverly crafted from the farmhouse's original floorboards is the elegant dining table, which sits at the centre of the kitchen and will comfortably seat 10 for family meals or special occasions.

Next door to the kitchen is the warm and spacious living room, which has underfloor heating and a wood burner. There are plenty of deep comfy sofas and armchairs for curling up and watching TV or reading a good book, and a selection of games housed at Warcombe will keep everyone entertained if the weather turns grey.

Upstairs are the gorgeous south facing bedrooms with views over the garden and plenty of storage for housing holiday clothes. In the original half of the farmhouse is a double and twin bedroom, as well as two shower rooms, one of which can be used as an exclusive en-suite for the double bedroom, which has its own private entrance to the bathroom. In the newer part of Warcombe Farmhouse is a second double bedroom and a colourful triple, which has wooden framed bunk beds and a single bed. The large and spacious family bathroom, fitted with deep bath, shower, loo and his and hers sinks is also located in this part of the farmhouse.

Outside Warcombe has a lovely garden, which is sure to keep children and dogs entertained. Mainly laid to lawn and surrounded by hedges, the garden has wonderful views over the rolling Devon hills. There are also a few secluded spots for sunbathing and a dining area for alfresco meals and summer evening BBQ's.

Local Area Information

Lee Bay is a quaint seaside village and only a short stroll down the hill from Warcombe Farmhouse. You can also reach the village by car if you don't fancy the walk back up the hill.

Lee Bay is home to the Grampus Inn a wonderful pub serving excellent food. The Grampus also doubles up as the village shop and post office, making it a convenient place to buy day to day necessities after a cold drink in the pub's garden.

There is a lovely beach at Lee Bay, which is rocky at the top but when the tide is out nice and sandy. This beach is wonderful for playing in rock pools or taking a romantic stroll.

For miles of uninterrupted golden sands head along the coast to Woolacombe, Croyde or Saunton, which are only minutes away by car. These beaches have blue flags and are great for learning water sports or building sandcastles.

A number of villages and towns are within a 30 minute drive of Warcombe, including Ilfracombe with its lovely harbour where you can catch a boat to Lundy Island; Barnstaple where you can watch the locals sell their produce at the pannier market or watch a live theatre show; Lynton and Lynmouth with its historic cliff railway and Clovelly where you walk down cobbled streets to the sea front. Exmoor is also only a short drive away.

Within the local area there are several activities, which all the family can enjoy, including golf, horse riding, walking and swimming.
