In Buonconvento there are several excellent restaurants and trattorie, not expensive, serving traditional Tuscan dishes. The wine is good, plentiful and cheap.About HistoryBuonconvento, 4 km away, is an old Roman town on the Via Cassia. It is still contained within its medieval walls. Not far away is Pienza, a gem of a hilltown, build by a pope for his family. Montalcino, famous forits Brunello wine, is nearby. A fascinating town that winds up the hill to the castle at the top. Bagni Vignoni, am amazing steaming spa village, is just down the Via Cassia. The steam rises like mist from all over the town. All this, and Florence and Siena too!
