Because we are above 4,000', we have wonderful weather both summer and winter. The surrounding mountains are home to lush thickets of mountain laurel and native rhodendron.

Local Area InformationOur mountain town is valued for its small town atmosphere and mountain location. We are near hiking trails from moderate 2 mile walks to all day hikes. We are surrounded by roaring waterfalls and tiny streams. There are several golf courses, see photo on our web site. We have lovely drives through the mountains. Shopping in our boutiques. Several Wine Spectator Award of Excellence restaurants. We are surrounded by hundred's of thousands of acres of national forests. We are an hours drive to the Cherokee Indian Reservation. We are about 2 hours drive to Atlanta, about 3 hours to Knoxville, TN and 1 1/2 hours drive to Asheville, NC home to a growing artist colony and the huge semi-annual Southern Highlands art exhibition as well as the Biltmore Estate. We are the perfect location for your day trips and peaceful mountain treks
