Set in eight tranquil acres of garden, woodland, pond and paddocks. From its 750’ high vantage point on the western edge of Exmoor, there are long views across rural North Devon to Bideford Bay and Hartland Point 27 miles away.
Bracken Roost is a detached self-catering cottage for two people. It is set in the grounds of Bracken House but with its own entrance, parking and well-fenced garden. Visitors to the cottage have access to the hotel grounds and use of its library and telephone. Further details are given in our hotel brochure.

The hotel and cottage are beautifully and peacefully situated a few hundred yards away from the village of Bratton Fleming. Facilities in the village include three churches, a village shop, post office and village pub.

Bracken Roost was formerly the private quarters of previous hotel owners; it is a one bedroom with double bed (linen supplied), a bathroom with bath and thermostatic power shower and an L-shaped open-plan living room and kitchen. A high standard of equipment is provided including a cooker with oven timer, microwave oven, combined washing machine and tumble drier, refrigerator, coffee maker and colour television.

Short breaks and non-standard weeks are available from mid-November to mid-March or whenever we are not already booked two weeks in advance.

Local Area Information

Bracken Roost is a convenient base for all the attractions of North Devon and the rugged beauty and spectacular coastline of Exmoor. Nearby are National Trust properties such as Arlington Court and large stretches of NT-owned coastline. Gardens include Rosemoor (RHS), Marwood Hill and Docton Mill. Visitors are also attracted to Doone Country, Dunster, and the pannier markets of South Molton, Barnstaple, Bideford and Torrington. The coastline varies between high cliffs interspersed with rocky coves and sandy beaches.
