In anticipation for the event surrounding neighborhood streets and the overhead air space have been shut down restricting access to the public. Additionally local police have been patrolling the 117 hectare cemetery to ensure no uninvited guests sneak in the night prior to Jackson’s burial.

The overall security for the burial is expected to cost $150,000, and the Jackson estate has reached an agreement to cover the expenses incurred by Glendale authorities, after the city of Los Angeles was forced to pay the $1.4 million in security fees for Jackson’s publicly televised memorial held in July.

This ceremony is expected to be entirely shut off from the media which will be allowed limited access via a park nearby the cemetery. The burial will be open to family and friends only, allowing for a private goodbye as the King of Pop is laid to rest. 

The famous cemetery located in Glendale, California is known for its long list of celebrity patronage. Stars such as Walt Disney, Humphrey Bogart, Errol Flynn, Jimmy Stewart, and Nat “King” Cole are also buried there, as well as Marilyn Monroe. 

A memorial service is scheduled to be held at the Forest Lawn’s Great Mausoleum prior to Jackson being buried. It is rumored that Gladys Knight will sing at the memorial service. Michael Jackson died over two months ago on June 25 of a drug overdose, since then authorities at the Los Angeles County Coroner have ruled the death a homicide.

In the wake of the homicide ruling, it makes it more likely that detectives will seek criminal charges, although as of now, none have been filed yet. The release included Murray’s confession that he did, in fact supply Jackson with sedatives prior to his death at his Los Angeles home.

“I’m surprised by the number of admissions [Murray] eventually made, putting himself right there, administering Propofol for many, many nights in a row,” said Vesna Maras a former L.A. County deputy district attorney who prosecuted two local nurses in 2004 for using Propofol.

It has been documented that on the day Jackson, 50, died Murray administered Valium at 1:30 AM, and then half an hour later gave the singer Lorazepam through an I.V. Murray then reported that when those two did not have the desired affect, the doctor administered Midazolam an hour later. After that the doctor claims he gave Jackson other sedatives later in the evening. 

Murray has stated that when none of these took effect, the doctor administered the Propofol at 10:40 AM. Murray then claims that Jackson fell asleep and he left the room for less than two minutes. 

Michael Jackson died that day from an overdose in what the LA County Coroner is now ruling as a homicide. So far, no charges have been filed against the doctor, but an investigation is ongoing, and some reports indicate charges are pending.
