Awel y Grug rests in its own grounds in the little village of Nantmor, between Beddgelert and Porthmadog. The Welsh Highland steam railway has a halt in the village where you can board the train for a trip to Porthmadog on the west coast or to the town of Caernarfon with its spectacular castle to the north. There are lovely walks available from the door out into the beautiful surrounding countryside or along the river to Beddgelert. In summer the near-by Osprey project is worth a visit.
