Y Frenni Fawr is a spacious dog-friendly cottage with wonderful country views from its idyllic setting. It is within easy reach of the Preseli Hills and the beautiful coasts of Pembrokeshire and Cardigan Bay. Y Frenni Fawr is perfect for summer holidays and out-of-season walking breaks. The cottage is set around a courtyard and there is only one other neighbouring cottage and a small glamping pod. There is a small duck pond, complete with ducks and although the setting is rural, you are within walking distance of a small shop. Y Frenni Fawr is a comfortable cottage for the whole family and an excellent base for exploring the local area. It is within a 15-minute drive of Cardigan with its restored castle, wildlife-spotting boat trips, cinema and choice of shops, pubs and places to eat, and also Cilgerran, home to The Welsh Wildlife Trust, the 13th-century castle and the picturesque Gorge, a lovely place to walk, fish or canoe on the River Teifi. The North Pembrokeshire beaches of Poppit Sands and Newport Sands are just a 20-minute drive, while on Cardigan Bay, we recommend the beautiful beach and dolphin-spotting point at Mwnt. Walking, mountain biking, and horse riding are all available in the Preseli Hills, and the coast offers activities such as kayaking, surfing and coasteering. It’s only about half an hour to the major family attraction of Folly Farm. Further afield, St Davids, Tenby and The National Botanic Garden of Wales are all within an hour’s drive. ACCOMMODATION Y Frenni Fawr sleeps 6 in 3 downstairs bedrooms: 1 double, 1 twin room and 1 bunk room plus a cot. The ‘upside down’ layout means the living rooms have the benefit of the panoramic views of the valley and Preseli Hills. There is a separate communal exercise area for dogs in the orchard adjoining the property. There is a duck pond, with the resident ducks. There are also 3 very friendly donkeys, Hettie, Dudley and Ellie, who would love to meet you. Please ensure children are supervised around the animals and pond. Enjoy the cosy Nordic-style BBQ Hut, situated in the orchard and looking out onto the Duck Pond. You can barbecue whatever the weather, or just enjoy the warmth of the firepit all year round. Complete with mood lighting and an impressive bluetooth sound system, it is the perfect place for a family get-together with a difference - seating up to 10 people in comfort. The use of the BBQ hut is available to all guests on a daily basis for a small fee to cover the cost of firewood and cleaning; it can be booked in advance of your stay or whilst you are here (subject to availability). And for that special occasion, you can even order a BBQ pack with locally sourced meats or a celebration pack (bubbly, chocs, flowers etc - please contact owners for prices.). Parking for 2 cars is available directly outside the property.
