The house is owned by artist Annie Groom and her husband James. They clean and manage the house themselves being local to Sheringham. Annie’s artwork can been found throughout the house, together with carefully collected paintings and placed objects and books. The house once belonged to the famous pioneering lady photographer Olive Edis who went on to become Britain’s first female war photographer in 1912. Her story is as fascinating as the house she once lived in. You walk into the hallway, and immediately feel the house. To your left is the sitting room, comfortable with sofas and chairs. A Smart TV is neatly fitted into the old fireplace. There are parlour games and a DVD player. To your right is the dining room. This is a very atmospheric room, a room to dim the lights and talk long into the night over a great meal. It is a timeless room, dark and secretive with many original paintings to sit and stare at The kitchen is through the archway, which was discovered in an old photograph of Olive and opened up back to its original position. A very well equipped room with double oven, hob, dishwasher, fridge and freezer. Plenty of crockery and cooking utensils. Off the kitchen is a shower room and WC, and a utility area, great for muddy boots and dogs. Up the stairs there are 4 bedrooms. The Yellow Bedroom at the front overlooking St Peters Church has a king sized bed and a single day bed. Furnished with antique pieces, a chest of drawers, wardrobe and lamps.
