Dog Friendly Holiday Cottages In Southgate
Strawberry Cottage is a quintessential Norfolk country cottage. The owners have lovingly restored the cottage to the comfortable and stylish home it is today. If you are looking for a holiday cottage in Snettisham, this could be the one. The cottage retains original features including a beamed ceiling in the sitting room and a red brick fireplace that houses the electric woodburning stove. In the kitchen you can still see the original pine fronted storage cupboards and the warm quarry tiled floor. The sitting room is comfortable with two sofas, a coffee table and ambient lighting, there is a dining table and chairs to one end. The kitchen is extremely well equipped with both appliances and crockery. The stairs are steep, traditional cottage stairs, so not suitable for anyone with mobility concerns. Upstairs are two really pretty and comfortable double bedrooms, with soft carpets . The master bedroom has a king sized bed, an original cast iron fireplace (decorative only) and plenty of storage with a hanging rack and chest of drawers. The second bedroom had a double bed, bedside tables and lamps. There are hook on the wall for clothes. Outside to the rear is an enclosed garden (please note there is a right of way at the top of this, through for the other cottages, which is seldom used but guests need to be aware.) for nice evenings outside. There is arranged allocated parking in the driveway to the next door property. The cottage has a a lockable storage shed for cycles. Snettisham, we think, is a pretty perfect village in that is has virtually everything you could possibly need. The Rose and Crown pub is a great local favourite and The Old Bank Restaurant should be on everyones list (booking is essential!) For coffee and breakfast The Old Stores is perfect with the best croissants on the coast! There is a large antique centre, often used on antiques programmes, that also has a great coffee shop. Opposite this is a small complex of shops including another coffee shop and a chocolatier. One of the main attractions that brings so many guests to Snettisham is it’s proximity to the famous RSPB reserve on the Wash and of course Wild Ken Hill which has been used for the past few years by the BBC to film Springwatch and Autumnwatch. Birding and wildlife watching here is world class, and just a few miles around the coast you have RSPB Titchwell and a bit further there is the Cley Salt Marsh reserves. The sight of the Pint Foot geese coming home to roost in the wintertime is one of natures must sees. The Snettisham Spectaculars are another incredible wildlife must see, at certain times of the year tens of thousands of knots and other migratory birds, leave the mud flats at the same time and the sight and sound of this is mesmerising. The incredible sunsets here are also something worth seeing. So you are really spoilt for choice and might need to come back again and again!
