Welcome to Hideaway, a cosy waterside retreat for two nestled beside the tranquil Fowey estuary, only a few seconds' walk to have a morning dip! This hidden little gem is amongst the hustle and bustle of this thriving town, yet offers a private escape where you can unwind and create cherished memories together in your hidden oasis. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Fowey is a magical place to spend time unwinding and reflecting on the nicer things in life. The town has everything you might need for a long weekend, a week or longer – historic pubs, restaurants, an eclectic mix of shops, not to mention boating, kayaking and glorious walks around the estuary with many coves to explore for that wild swimming experience. The picturesque Fowey Estuary has been both an inspiration and home to an array of authors. It is said to have formed the basis of Kenneth Grahame’s “Wind in the Willows”; and elements of Fowey Hall, now a luxury hotel, are believed to have inspired the description of “Toad Hall”. Sir Arthur Quiller-Couch settled in the town where he remained for the rest of his life. Daphne Du Maurier also lived here and her family’s home ‘Ferryside’, where she wrote ‘The Loving Spirit’, can be seen from Hideaway over in Bodinnick on the east bank. Please note: Due to the quirky nature of this home, it may not be suitable for the particularly tall or infirm, due to low beams and steps.
