Hamsterley Forest (2.7 miles) is a delightful 2000-hectare oasis visitors to Hamsterley have no shortage of options when it comes to forest adventure or a tranquil getaway from the hustles of modern living. From wildlife watching and dark sky gazing to adventure play and high-octane mountain biking. With Raby Castle nearby (9 miles) and the delightful market town of Barnard Castle (13 miles) with its medieval castle ruins delightful cobbled streets and a weekly market. The ancient cathedral city of Durham (12 miles) is a must and a trip to the area is not complete without a visit to the Kynren Project a mesmerizing show telling tales of life in the area from Roman times to the present day.
