About Exchange Cottage

Exchange Cottage is a traditional terraced house in Tideswell dating from the 1700s, and it wears its age well. Two bedrooms, one double and one with an adult bunk bed, sit above a ground floor of the compact, warm kind: a fitted kitchen with a small dining table, and a sitting room with an electric fire that takes the chill off an evening. Gas central heating covers the rest of the building, and fuel and power are included in the rent.

What makes the place work is its position on the street. The nearest shop and pub are a minute on foot, and there are pubs, restaurants and an ice-cream parlour among the village amenities, so an evening out involves closing the front door and walking.

Inside, the kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge and washing machine, which is enough for a week of proper meals. There is a television with a DVD player, a CD player and WiFi, along with a library of books, games and CDs left for guests, a small thing that turns a wet Derbyshire afternoon into a decent one. Bed linen and towels are provided. Parking is on the road opposite, with further off road parking within a hundred yards. One point worth noting when you plan the journey: arrival at this cottage is from 4pm.
