The estuary beach is a family-friendly stretch of sand, backed by sand dunes which make a lovely place for an afternoon walk. In summer, a ferry runs across the estuary to the pretty fishing village of Appledore, where numerous pleasure craft offer scenic boat trips. The town of Bideford is just four miles down-river from Instow, offering a range of shops and eateries, and for those who are feeling energetic, it is possible to enjoy a riverside walk to Bideford directly from the property.
