Sitting just off the sea wall, means that waves are lapping just metres below your third floor balcony from where you can enjoy the 2 miles of Blue Flag, golden sandy beach with its unique pebble ridge. A stone's throw from the village amenities including pubs, shops, restaurants and amusements to entertain children of all ages. Westward Ho! benefits from a surf school and England's oldest golf club, Royal North Devon, that stretches out on to the Northam Burrows Country Park, protected from the sea by the pebble ridge, and offering some of the finest walks through the dunes and on the South West Coast Path, which runs along the seafront. The village takes its name from Charles Kingsley's historical novel set in Bideford. On the cliff behind is the lovely walking area of Kipling Tor named after the author Rudyard Kipling, who attended the former United Services College in the village. Other nearby points of interest include the fishing village of Appledore, The Big Sheep, Dartington Crystal and RHS Rosemoor Gardens.
