Chalkstone Cottage is a detached stone cottage in the middle of Flamborough, and its single bathroom is better than most: a freestanding bath and a separate walk-in shower, so a long soak and a quick rinse do not compete. Three bedrooms, two doubles and a twin, sit alongside an open-plan living room where the kitchen, dining table and sitting area gather round a woodburning stove.

That stove, along with gas central heating, means the cottage works as well in February as in August. Sky TV and Wi-Fi cover the evenings when the weather has other ideas. The kitchen holds an electric oven and hob, a dishwasher, a washing machine, a microwave, a toaster and a kettle, with fuel, power, bed linen and towels all included in the rent.

Outside, an enclosed courtyard garden with furniture gives somewhere private to sit, and there is off-road parking for two cars, which is not to be taken for granted in a village. A pub is 0.1 miles away and a shop 0.2 miles, close enough that most days need not involve driving at all. One well-behaved pet is welcome.
