A single-storey conversion, 2 Welford Barns puts the bedroom, the shower room and the living space together on one level. The bed is a super king-size, and it can be split into two singles if you ask before you arrive, which makes the place workable for friends as well as couples. The en-suite has a shower, basin and WC.

The rest is one open room: kitchen at one end, a table to eat at, and seating arranged for the evenings. It is a simple, uncluttered layout, and easy to keep that way over a week. The kitchen has an oven and hob, a microwave and a fridge, covering breakfasts, packed lunches and a proper dinner without fuss. There is a television and WiFi, and electric heating keeps things warm out of season. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are included in the rent, and a travel cot and highchair can be provided if you let the owner know in advance.

Outside there is a garden with a patio and furniture, useful for a slow morning coffee. One car parks off the road. Fordingbridge has a shop 0.2 miles away and a pub at 0.3 miles, so an evening out needs no driving at either end of it.
