About The Beekeeper's Cottage
An idyllic,18th Century romantic Norfolk hideaway - the perfect bolthole for couples or family to escape to at any time of the year. With a wealth of exposed beams, an old inglenook fireplace and quirky features throughout, The Beekeeper's Cottage is a sensory delight.A former bakehouse, completely renovated by the owners in 2022 to a very high standard, the cottage is beautifully presented with the emphasis on calm colours, cool country styling with a mix of antique and restored furniture to create a super relaxing and ultra comfortable retreat. The walls are curved, the oak beams bleached, the bedrooms are vaulted, the streamlined kitchen has Quartz worktops and the beds are dressed with fine linens. On the ground floor guests are spoilt for choice with two seating areas; a glazed garden room to suit the summer months, and a very cosy sitting room with a wood burning stove for when the days become cooler and the nights draw in. Each room has a television too, so there's no need to fight over the remote! The galley kitchen is well-equipped and the dining room next door has a farmhouse table for when you want to dine in and share some delicious local fayre. In keeping with an old property, the wet room style bathroom is on this level too but is smart and modern. As you climb the stairs to the first floor, notice the handrail carved from a tree branch; a beautiful work of art! The two bedrooms (double and full-size twin beds) share the convenience of a cloakroom sitting between the two, so there's no need to tackle the stairs in the early hours should the need arise. Outside, to the back of the cottage, is a garden area with dining furniture available for those balmy days when an outdoor meal is a delicious option. The garden is enclosed and safe for dogs.
Barney is a quiet, pretty village just inland from North Norfolk's beautiful coastline, where there are miles of walks to enjoy whilst taking in the stunning wildlife that visits these shores. Nearby lovely Georgian villages of Holt and Burnham Market that all have their own individual personality, an endless selection of fantastic places to eat and shopping delights. The quiet lanes around Barney are ideal for cyclists to explore, and the cottage has a secure bike shed if you want to bring your own bikes.
