Skipper Cottage New Hunstanton, Norfolk

Skipper Cottage is the much loved holiday home of Jayne and is situated in a quiet one way street just off the High Street in Hunstanton. Skipper Cottage is built of the local stone known as ‘Honeystone’ and in the famous Hunstanton sunsets it just glows. The cottage sleeps up to 5 guests in three pretty bedrooms.  A king sized, a double and a small double suitable for one person. The property has been lovingly and carefully renovated to keep many original Victorian features, which give it it’s charm. The sitting room at the front of the house is comfortable and welcoming and has the original cast iron fireplace as it’s focal point (decorative only) As you walk through the house you realise how deceptive it is from the front, is just goes on and on, through a charming dining room and onto the kitchen at the rear, which is modern and well equipped. Upstairs is a very spacious bathroom, again not what you expect! With a bath and shower over, WC and basin. At the rear of the house is a pretty enclosed courtyard garden and a private parking space for one car. Hunstanton is famous for being the only eastern seaside resort that actually faces west, so gets the most amazing sunsets right over the sea. The resort was originally founded in Victorian times  by Henry Styleman Le Strange, who’s family still reside locally. The beautiful Victorian and Edwardian villas, many built from carrstone or ‘honeystone’ as it’s known locally, found in the historic quarter of the town reflect this former glory. A wander around this part of the town is something many visitors miss, so it is worth a visit to to the local Heritage Centre to find out a bit more. Of course many people flock to Hunstanton for the beaches, which are sandy and backed with dunes and beach huts. To the south end of the beach you will find traditional seaside treats like a children’s fun fair, slot machines and some glorious fish and chips! Head to Reg’s for fish and chips with a view over the Wash from their balcony, front row seats for the sunsets. Hunstanton is the perfect place for a weekend break or a family holiday, with plenty to do for everyone.
