A short visitor's guide to Docklow, Herefordshire: things to do, places to eat and drink, and what's on through the year.
Docklow is a small rural hamlet in north Herefordshire, set in quiet countryside about eleven miles north of the city of Hereford and four miles east of the market town of Leominster. The parish, which also takes in the neighbouring hamlet of Hampton Wafer, is agricultural in character, with the Church of St Bartholomew at its heart, a building with origins in the 12th and 13th centuries. The remains of Uphampton Camp, a probable Iron Age hillfort, lie within the parish.
For visitors, Docklow is a peaceful retreat from which to explore the wider Herefordshire countryside. The main local draw is Docklow Pools, a long-established fishery with eight lakes and pools, a pub, a restaurant and a cafe that between them serve both residents and those passing through. If you are visiting with a dog, dog-friendly holiday cottages in Docklow are plentiful in the area, with fourteen available nearby.
There are two places to drink in and around Docklow, both just off the A44.

The main eating option in Docklow is the restaurant at the Docklow Pools complex.
The Fisherman Arms at Docklow Pools (HR6 0RU) is a pub, restaurant and cafe within the same grounds as the fishery, open to residents, visitors and walkers alike. The Sunday carvery is particularly well regarded locally; booking or calling ahead is strongly advised for it. The daytime cafe operates seven days a week from 8am in season, and parking is free for patrons. The setting, with woodland and lakes on the grounds, makes it a pleasant stop at any time of day.
