Within the gated grounds of a Victorian townhouse, this stylish holiday hideaway has St Asaph’s iconic cathedral on the doorstep. Explore the North Wales coastline, mountains and countryside, then return home to a companionable open-plan living space plus two bedrooms with the flexibility to suit a small family or group of friends. One dog is welcome too. Ivy-clad on the outside, this detached outbuilding has been tastefully converted into a charming home-from-home for a party of four. The setting is historic, but step inside and every modern must-have is here. Leave your outdoor gear in the long hallway then head into the open-plan living space where comfortable sofas suggest laid-back evenings in front of the Smart TV. At one end, the sleek kitchen has granite worktops and is conveniently close to the dining suite, which sits before patio doors onto the garden. Heading upstairs, two spacious bedrooms are served by a family bathroom; each has zip-and-link beds that can be made up as either super-king-size or twin beds – please specify which you’d prefer at the time of booking. For a breath of fresh air simply open up the patio doors in the living area to enjoy your own private, enclosed space outside. Gather around the fire pit BBQ and catch the sun setting over the distant hills; the rear patio area is fully enclosed, and lockable storage is available for bikes and beach gear. Enjoy strolls around St Asaph – although small in stature, it’s a city where historic significance is coupled with modern amenities, and no holiday would be complete without a visit to the predominantly 14th-century cathedral. St Asaph sits midway between the beautiful market town of Denbigh and the coastal resort of Rhyl (both within 6 miles), while 22 miles west, Llanwrst – known as the ‘capital’ of the verdant Vale of Conwy – sits on the edge of the Eryri National Park.
